Shampoo Bars

 

How to Use: just lather up your hands or rub the bar directly on your hair. You will have an instant, thick lather. Your hair will be squeaky clean without the use of chemicals or detergents. You will notice the difference immediately! We challenge you to give up your conditioner when using these shampoo bars! If you rinse your hair well following the use of these shampoo bars, we think you will not need conditioner.

These solid shampoo bars are airline friendly and can double as body soap while on vacation!

All shampoo bars contain the following oils unless expressly stated otherwise (see Rosemary Mint!):  Coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, hazelnut oil, castor oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, Meadowfoam seed oil.

 

Coconut Shampoo:    for normal to oily hair

Contains coconut milk, shredded coconut, and scented with citrus oils.  We think the addition of coconut milk has vastly improved this shampoo!  Coconut milk can be used by itself as a conditioner, so adding it into the shampoo seemed like a great idea!

 

 

Charcoal Shampoo:  for all hair

Contains activated charcoal, marshmallow root powder, and scented with sweet fennel and cypress.  Marshmallow root powder is known to be effective in soothing skin and healing inflammation.  It lends a creamy texture to this shampoo and also gives extra body and "slip" to the hair.

 

 

Green Apple Shampoo:     for all hair

This funky shampoo is for the patchouli lover!   Our own unique blend of patchouli, lavender, and other oils to create that trademark scent.  Oils are formulated for use on all hair types - Love it or Leave it!

 

Lavender Almond Shampoo:      for all hair types

This beautiful shampoo is for all hair types.  It contains a unique blend of lavender, rosemary,  almond, and a touch of peppermint, but the sweet almond oil enhances the shine and beauty of your hair as well.  This shampoo replaces the previous "rosemary mint" variety.

 

 

Rosemary Mint:       for curly hair and normal hair
                              (no castor or shea oils)

Contains rosemary, peppermint, spearmint, clary sage,  ginger,and sweet fennel essential oils.  Some folks with naturally curly hair say that castor and shea oils are not good for their hair.  We were asked to make a shampoo without these ingredients, so here it is!  Folks with normal hair can use it too!  Also contains marshmallow root powder which helps coat and moisturize hair follicles for extra body to the hair.  Rosemary is thought to promote hair growth.  Meadowfoam seed oil is also used in this shampoo for extra shine and conditioning.

 

 

 

Seafoam Shampoo:        for all hair

Scented with a blend of juniper berry and myrrh; very clean and crisp!

 

Sweet Orange Shampoo : for damaged or treated hair

 Sweet vanilla, elemi, and palmarosa essential oils, with gotu kola powder for extra moisturizing.   This shampoo seems to be a favorite with it's "sweet" orangey fragrance.

 

 

Teatree Shampoo:       for normal to oily hair

Contains neem oil, teatree, lavender, and eucalyptus - fantastic all-purpose shampoo.  Great for dandruff, itchy scalp, or just plain normal hair.

Hair Treatment Bar:      to restore natural oils

Compilation of lecithin, Vitamin E, jojoba oil, melt and pour soap and ground figs to restore natural oils that gets depleted from our hair.  This is to be used after shampooing, let sit on your hair while you bathe, then rinse thoroughly.  Essential fatty acids and vitamins and plumping of hair follicles will make a wonderful hair treatment! 

 

    

 

   Why Use Solid, Natural Shampoo?

Pick up your shampoo bottle and read the label : most of the ingredients sound like they are from your high school chemistry book. Hardly natural!

Commercial shampoos are often detergents that have chemicals added that strip natural oils from your hair and can cause irritation of the scalp. Some contain parabens, synthetic microbial preservatives and phthalates.  Recent studies are implicating such chemicals in commercial shampoo products to cancerous cell division and autism.

Our solid shampoo bars are made with the same cold process technique as our natural soaps, but we have added the following oils:

Castor oil is very moisturizing and provides a rich lather.
Avocado oil is highly therapeutic, penetrates the hair and provides nutrients.
Jojoba oil gets into hair follicles and moisturizes the scalp.
Hazelnut oil is rich in protein and essential fatty acids.  It does not leave an oily feel behind, and also has the ability to filter the rays of the sun.

Evening primrose oil is rich in essential fatty acids.

Sweet Almond oil enhances the shine and strength of hair.  It coats the hair follicles and nourishes.  It is rich in Vitamin E and may help prevent hair fall.

Marshmallow Root Powder is an herb we use in some of our shampoos to provide softening and conditioning properties, by adding "slip" to your hair. 

Meadowfoam Seed Oil is used in some of our shampoos to aid with extra shine, moisture retention frizz control, and conditioning. 

Please don't give up on these shampoo bars after only one or two uses.  Sometimes it takes a week of regular shampooing to completely rid your hair of built-up chemical deposits in your hair.  You will know your hair is really clean when it squeaks with running your fingers along individual hair fibers. 

Water hardness will also affect the effectiveness of these natural shampoos.  Hard water contains minerals of calcium and magnesium.  If present in high enough content, they can inhibit lathering of natural soaps.  In that case, you might consider adding a water softener, or simply adding a filter to your shower head. 

Will you need a conditioner?  We think not.  Once you have cleaned off all the old chemicals in your hair, you will find your hair has much more shine and life to it.  If you need a de-tangler, try a small amount of lemon juice or cider vinegar in water as a rinse.    If you still require a conditioner, you will probably find you only need to use it once a week or month.
